1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how The Felt LLC ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use The Felt, a poker game leaderboard and statistics tracking service available at thefelt.app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account and contact information: email address, phone number, and nicknames you choose.
- Profile information: avatar or profile photo you upload.
- Game and session data: poker session records and player statistics you enter or generate through use of the Service.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact support.
Payment information: When you subscribe to a Paid Plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full payment card number. We receive limited information from Stripe such as subscription status, the last four digits of your card, and billing confirmation. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically: When you use the Service, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically collect technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, log data, and usage information. We use Clerk to manage account authentication and login sessions, which sets cookies necessary to keep you securely signed in. See Section 8.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including leaderboards and statistics;
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
- Process subscriptions and payments through Stripe;
- Send you transactional messages (for example, account, billing, and security notices) by email and, where applicable, by phone or text;
- Respond to support requests;
- Monitor, improve, and secure the Service;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We currently send only transactional and service-related communications (such as account, billing, security, and support messages). We do not send marketing text messages. If we introduce marketing communications in the future, we will obtain any consent required by law (including, for text messages, the consent required under the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act) and provide a way to opt out.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other users: Your nickname, avatar, and game statistics are displayed to other participants in your games and on leaderboards you take part in. Do not use a nickname or photo you wish to keep private.
- With service providers: We share information with vendors who help us operate the Service, including Stripe (payments), Clerk (account authentication and login), Vercel (application hosting), Tolt (affiliate referral tracking), and Spaceship (domain). They may process information only on our behalf.
- For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You can request deletion as described below.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You may access, update, or delete much of your account information through your account settings, or by contacting us at support@thefelt.app.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined). You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact support@thefelt.app.
EU/UK residents (GDPR), if applicable: You may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing. Our legal bases for processing are performance of our contract with you, your consent, and our legitimate interests in operating the Service.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies in a few categories: strictly necessary cookies (including session and authentication cookies set by Clerk to keep you securely signed in), analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) that help us understand and improve usage, and advertising cookies used to measure and run marketing. Non-essential analytics and advertising cookies are set based on your consent, which you can review or change at any time through our cookie banner or the controls described in our Cookie Policy. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it.
10. International Users
We operate in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you through the Service or by email.
